In February, a group of students from Oak Ridge’s Robertsville Middle School RamSat team visited the Lab, for a day of presentations by the ORNL chapter of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), whose members have visited the school on several occasions and have provided ongoing guidance and technical expertise for the students. The students are constructing an experimental cube satellite for NASA. For more information about the group’s February visit, please see our previous post.
On May 22nd, 2019, the students returned to ORNL to present information about their ongoing cube satellite project to ORNL staff. Students presented on a variety of principles and techniques that will help their cube satellite capture & transmit images to monitor canopy recovery in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, following destructive forest fires in 2016.
